Day 2: July 3 2005 - Exploration

Today Auntie Carol and I both woke up late. Well I guess 10am isn't all that late. We got a slow start on the morning. We sat out on the patio in backyard and chatted over orange juice. She wrote out detailed instructions for me to get to my job first thing the next morning. I knew after listening to her instructions I wouldn't get lost. It was actually too amazing how close her house worked out to being.

While we were chatting the phone rang and Auntie Carol went inside to answer it. While she was chatting I took pictures of the house and backyard and garden. It truly is beautiful.

I also spent some time sitting in the diningroom next to Uncle Donald's picture. Even though he's not here I could still very much feel his presence. I swear, and you can call me crazy but I truly believe he brought this all together. I feel he had a hand in this. Looking at his picture in that moment I ABSOLUTELY KNEW he had helped this all come together. Auntie Carol even said she believed it to be true too. I know I needed Auntie Carol and I think she needed me too. It couldn't have worked out better. I really feel he is watching over both of us and it is very reassuring.

We enjoyed a breakfast of the homemade bread with gourmet cheddar cheese and fresh strawberries. MMMMMM! After that Auntie Carol asked if I would like to go for a walk up Bayview street and see all the shops and restaurants. Absolutely everything you would EVER need is on this street. There is a chesse store that has every type of cheese from every country you'd ever imagine. There is a chocolate store, a bank, a Shoppers and a really cool stationary store. At the Stationary store I bought a bunch of postcards and paper to wrap Kate's birthday present!

We stopped in a couple of stores and picked up some groceries and then stopped in at Second cup and had these DELICIOUS smoothies! YUMMY. Then we headed home.

Back at the house Auntie Carol and I sat out on the porch and she read her book while I filled out some postcards and attempted to write my journal so I can keep track of everything I do while I'm here.

Auntie Carol had invited Kate and her sister Ann over for Babcia perogies! So around 6 both of them arrived. Auntie Carol made a tomato and fresh bean salad to go with the perogies. We decided to use up the bag of GIANT perogy which resulted from the defrosting of that one bad too long. I was so mortified because I thought they looked horrible. But Kate, Ann and Auntie Carol ate all of them anyway! It was just one big lump of perogy in that pot of boiling water and nothing would make the damn things come apart! I gave up and just ended up frying them once they had cooked enough. That helped a little as far as I was concerned but the rest assured me they would eat them no matter what they looked like.

After dinner we had the left over pecan pie over tea. We had spent the time waiting for the perogies going through the DVD collection I had brought with me. We each gave our opinions of the movies I had and it sparked conversations about ones I didn't have. We ended up starting a list of ones that we all decided we needed to see together. I think this could end up being a regular thing with Kate, Ann and Auntie Carol.

After dessert we settled on watching The Chorus a fantastic movie which was in French with English subtitles. Kate, Ann and Auntie Carol all speak French so I was actually able to learn A LOT from them that I didn't know about the movie. It gave me a new perspective on it even though I'd already seen it. It is a fabulous movie that I think everyone should see. Really uplifting even though it's not always the happiest of stories.

After the movie was over Kate and Ann had to leave. It was also time for me to get to bed as I knew I had an important day tomorrow.
